About Me
I love tending stories. Yours, mine, and ours.
I live by the premise that we are all creative beings, and we can express that creativity through an infinite variety of everyday acts and vocational endeavors. I became a writer for a simple reason: I loved stories. From a young age, the narrative arts became the primary tool I used to express my creativity and make meaning of the world around me.
After studying English, Journalism, and Creative Writing at Berry College, I came very close to attending Candler School of Theology to obtain a Master of Divinity with the intent of serving as a hospital chaplain. But, life led me in another direction, one that would still honor my desire to both hold space for others and deepen my skills in narrative craft.
Marrying the concepts of faith-rooted, radical hospitality and storytelling, I’ve worked as communications director for a nonprofit prioritizing community with unhoused people; and I’ve also been involved in organizing for The Wild Goose Festival, the Movies & Meaning film festival, and The Porch Gathering.
Receiving my MFA in narrative nonfiction writing from The University of Georgia was an invaluable opportunity to be in community with journalists who were also passionate about storytelling.
Learning with them gave me a profound gift. Within the journalistic commitment to truth-telling, I saw that the same kind of attentive awareness brought to crafting a written story could be similar to the listening posture of a spiritual companion.
Now, by interweaving these dual callings, I teach writing classes, facilitate groups, and provide one-with-one soul care grounded in the foundation that the stories we tell about ourselves and others can heal us — if we let them.

“Jasmin Pittman is one of the most committed, creative, and kind people I know. She's a magnificent listener, and a humble yet profound thinker who has taught me a great deal in the 15+ years I've known her. Her talent as a writer and transformative storyteller is rare, and her commitment to finding redemptive ways to think about even the most painful of circumstances is one of her finest and most evident qualities. She's already someone who many look to for spiritual guidance.” — Gareth Higgins, author, storyteller, activist
